Hello, I’m Katya Fomina, a professional retoucher. I started my journey as a retoucher with the coronavirus year 2020.
What pushed me into this creative profession?
Ever since childhood, when the first point-and-shoot cameras appeared, I loved taking photographs, I photographed all family holidays with all 24 frames))) Then came phones, I photographed everything and everyone))
It was like I was walking, driving and just catching the shots with my eyes)
Smartphones developed, they had cool cameras, and cool apps came out.
And then in 2018 I learned about Lightroom. God, what a thrill it was for me. In it I processed all the photos and created my own presets. For mobile nature photography, I still use Lightroom on mobile. This is Van Love.
Since 2019, I have been processing photographs to order using mobile applications. Each time I fall in love with the processing more and more.
In 2020, my parents and husband give me a Nikon D3500 camera) and a good laptop.
And I will study with the wonderful photographer @osipovajulia
I am full of inspiration and desire to continue photographing. And in the same year I received a base in retouching knowledge.
Developing as a photographer, I began to look for my own style in editing.
I began to delve deeper into the study of retouching more and more, studying Photoshop and its tools and capabilities. I was sucked in. Retouching has become a meditation and a favorite activity for me.
I regularly increased my level of retouching. Of the paid ones there were only three, all decent and of high quality. The first in 2020, then in 2021 and the last in 2023.
I received my first orders in 2020. But I retouched more for myself, for the soul and for practice. There was no such thing as money, money, I’ll be cutting money right now.
I simply painstakingly honed my skills in photo processing; if there were orders, I retouched them for little money.
And now in 2021 the first request arrives: “Do you teach?” I was surprised) In my head “what? I? Teach? Yes, well))))”Another year passed, requests for training came in, but I refused.
All these are fears in the head and lack of confidence in oneself, in one’s knowledge and skills. During my last year, I realized that I was in vain to doubt myself and my knowledge; this is not true at all). I’m smart, I already know all this, and that in the retouching process I do everything correctly.
Now I’m conducting mini consultations on retouching and my new service is a master class on retouching.
In the future I plan to continue to develop in retouching, I like it and I can safely say that this is where I found myself.
